Embers at Galdrilene By A.D. Trosper

I was lucky enough to read this new book awhile ago. Saw where it just went through an edit and redesign an am glad that such a good book has been spiffed up.

Blurb:  “A ray of light, a stain of shadow, shall endure to breathe life and death into the future”

The war between the Guardians and the Shadow Riders ended in total devastation. The final battle killed all the dragons and left nothing but fields of ash. A small clutch of dragon eggs was all that remained to provide hope for the future.

Five hundred years later, the ability to use magic is a death sentence and dragons are remembered as a curse. But the unhatched dragons sing for their riders…and soon six lives will be changed forever.

The elements of magic are drawn together as the dragons’ call leads them on an epic and dangerous journey of discovery. They soon learn everything they’ve been taught to believe about magic and dragons is wrong.

With the last of the dragons and the world at stake, they will risk everything to heed the call.

But an evil from the past soon threatens their discovery and new found joy. Shadow Dragons ride the dawn once more.

My Review: Embers is one of the best fantasy books I have read in a long time. The author lends a whole new dimension to dragon lore that is missing in a lot of the books I have read. All of the characters(and there are many) are well developed and full of personality. Very few authors I have read are as good at having multiple points of view and making you care about each an every one. The world she built is complex and complete. Continuity is very important to me in a story and Ms Trosper delivers. This is the first in a series of three but she does finish this part of the story up quite well and still leaves you wanting the next installment. I hope she is writing furiously now so I can read the next adventures of the dragon riders I have come to love already. I give this book 5 stars.
