Memory of Light by Robert Jordan/Brandon Sanderson

Today I will review a book I have been waiting years to read. Memory of Light By Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson.

Since 1990, when Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time® burst on the world with its first book, The Eye of the World, readers have been anticipating the final scenes of this extraordinary saga, which has sold over forty million copies in over thirty languages.

When Robert Jordan died in 2007, all feared that these concluding scenes would never be written. But working from notes and partials left by Jordan, established fantasy writer Brandon Sanderson stepped in to complete the masterwork. With The Gathering Storm (Book 12) and Towers of Midnight (Book 13) behind him, both of which were # 1 New York Times hardcover bestsellers, Sanderson now re-creates the vision that Robert Jordan left behind.

Edited by Jordan’s widow, who edited all of Jordan’s books, A Memory of Light will delight, enthrall, and deeply satisfy all of Jordan’s legions of readers.

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass.
What was, what will be, and what is,
may yet fall under the Shadow.
Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time.

My Review:  I must admit I feel a little intimated  in reviewing this book. I mean I have read this series for years going back and re-reading it many times every time a new volume comes out. i have been immersed in this world so many times and loved every minute of it. I know some of the books were slow with very little action happening but they built for the next one. For this multi tome epic to only cover two actual years of the characters lives is amazing. I like how a lot of the threads were wrapped up in this book but was disappointed in some aspects. I found the battles a little flat and tiresome. Once Matt took over they got much better. I was also disappointed that the Aiel were not more forefront. I think too much was shoved into this final novel and easily could have spanned another one. The ending left me wanting. I really wanted an epilogue that would take place a year or so or even more later to see how life was treating the people. Lan and Nynaeve back in his homeland. Tom and Moraine,Faile and Perrin, Elayne , Min and Aviendha and Rand. I mean Elayne never even had the babies or Aviendha know she was going to have triplets. I know it won’t happen but i would love to see a sequel happen that dealt with a little of the fourth age and Loial’s book Matt and Tuon. Even so kudos Mr. Sanderson for finishing this for all of us that would have felt incomplete without it. I am glad that now when I decide to visit Mr. Jordan’s world there will be an ending. I give this 4 stars.
